Chipping in for Vets Golf Tournament
The Henderson Chamber of Commerce Foundation will be hosting the Inaugural Chipping in for Vets Golf Tournament on October 26th from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm at Chimera Golf Club at Tuscany. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Veterans Treatment Court of Henderson and the HCC Foundation.
The Veterans Treatment Court is overseen by Judge Mark Stevens. The Nevada Legislature authorized the establishment of this specialty court in 2009. He himself is a military veteran and wanted to give back to his fellow veterans who needed a little help to get back on track. Most participants are first-time offenders of misdemeanor crimes and have issues related to their service. According to Judge Stevens, “These veterans come back home and have a tough time adjusting to life outside of the military. Through my own service and experience I understand some of their challenges and work closely with a team of dedicated professionals to get them the help they need.” Participants in the program complete any or all of the following as part of their sentence: Treatment needs; Court ordered counseling; Veterans Administration recommended counseling, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Counseling, mental health counseling, as well as drug or alcohol addiction counseling.
The golf tournament will be a best-ball scramble. Many great raffle items will be available. If you would like to participate or donate to this worthy cause, contact Bill Bokelmann, Foundation Manager, at 702-209-3967 or [email protected]
Both the HCC Foundation and Veterans Treatment Court are 501c3 nonprofit organizations.
