“How do I get VOLUME to last in my hair?”
I’d say this is the number one question my hair clients are asking me.
With the right strategy, even the thinnest hair can see substantial increase in volume. Here are my top tips:
Who remembers crimping irons???
ME! ME! ME!!!!
Hello! NEW FAVORITE TOOL ALERT!!!
I’m loving the concept of a texture iron. It’s great for very fine or straight hair.
This baby helps you Just Say NO to teasing by creating lasting volume at your roots without the nest of tangles. Just crimp at the roots of underlying hair for heat-set fullness.
Tiffanie has a very fine, straight texture to her hair. Look how thick and full we got her braid. Also, we used the texture wand at her roots throughout for added volume.
Adding dimension to your hair with color will make it look twice as full.
Here are two new hair clients of mine in before-and-after pics. Notice how much thicker the ends look after the color treatment?
Coloring your hair can add fullness, especially if your stylist is using a product called OLAPLEX – a game changer, as far as I’m concerned.
It’s usually a big NO NO to use bleach on someone’s ends, and as a colorist I’m usually a sceptic when it comes to adding some miracle solution to my formulas. However, after hearing about this product from many of the professionals I admire, I decided to give it a whirl.
I used Olaplex in all of the above color formulas.
Basically, the bonds of damaged hair can be repaired and lightened at the same time with this product. This allows us to achieve lighter, brighter hair while still maintaining the integrity and strength of those ends.
Hooray for technology and cheers to having what I call BUFF ends!!!
Ask your colorist about adding this to your next color formula, as Olaplex is offered by licensed professionals.
Dry shampoo works wonders for volume.
More and more people are catching on to this one. Even if you don’t need dry shampoo to absorb oil, try using it to add volume and boost roots on your second or third day hair.
Suave just happens to be my favorite dry shampoo. Take note on this drugstore product — you don’t want to miss out!!!
It’s inexpensive and it smells amazing (cha-Ching)!!!!
Spray at roots every few inches. I usually blast with a blowdryer to break it up a bit.
If nothing else, always use product on roots/scalp before you use a hairdryer.
I love Bumble and bumble. Thickening Full Form Mousse. I use this on almost every person who sits in my chair no matter their hair texture. Massage this into your roots and your blowout will have the perfect foundation to last for days.
