POLICE: Two men charged with Dec. 23 stabbing death of Henderson resident
-Two men were arrested Jan. 6 in connection with the homicide of Henderson resident Walter Zhongcheng Wu on Dec. 23.
The suspects, both 21-years-old, were located at a Las Vegas home near Vegas Drive and Rancho Drive, according to city of Henderson spokesperson Kathleen Richards. They were taken into custody without incident just before noon today.
Henderson firefighters and police officers responded to a 911 call at a single family residence in the 100 block of Holly Tree Court on Dec. 23 at about 10:30 p.m.
Firefighters observed smoke coming from the residence and entered to combat the fire, according to Richards.
They found Wu, 20, unconscious in a bedroom. He was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital – Siena Campus, where he died from multiple stab wounds to the head and neck, and asphyxia. The death was ruled a homicide.
Wu’s 2015 Toyota 4Runner was missing from the home where he lived with his mother. The abandoned vehicle was found Dec. 26 at a Las Vegas apartment complex near Boulder Highway and Flamingo Road.
The suspects are being held at the Henderson Detention Center on charges that include murder with use of a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit murder, robbery while in possession of a deadly weapon, and first degree arson.
Police say Wu knew his attackers, but are not revealing the nature of the relationship at this time, according to Richards.
