BOYS’ BASKETBALL: Wolves knock off Patriots, Gators and Cougars lose at home

Behind a strong first half push, the Basic Wolves advanced to 5-2 on the season with a 68-55 rout of the Liberty Patriots (0-5), Dec. 16.

Jared Meacham led the Wolves in all facets of the game, scoring 25 points, with seven assists, six rebounds and five steals for his best performance of the season thus far.

Aiding the Wolves wing was Jaimen Williams with 16 points, while Robert Sutton chipped in eight points.

Despite the loss, Tai Senor led all scorers with 34 points for the Patriots, while the rest of their eight man roster provided 21 points.


Behind five players in double figures, the Valley Vikings (8-0) were able to pick up an important 83-63 road victory over the upstart Green Valley Gators (4-2).

Darrion Daniels led all scorers with 18 points for the Vikings, while Cameron Burton (15), Shaea Garland (14), Taveon Jackson (13) and Nick Brannon (11) all contributed heavily to the rout.

Despite the loss against perhaps the hottest team in the Sunrise region, Romello Jones and Kelvin Omojola were able to hold their own Tuesday night. Jones, led all Gator scorers with 15 points, while Omojola added 12 points and seven assists on the night.


Behind a strong third quarter effort, the Las Vegas Wildcats (5-0) were able to pick up an impressive 74-65 road victory over Coronado (3-2).

Behind a 15-9 third quarter advantage, the Wildcats were able to erase a two-point first half deficit to keep their unblemished record intact.

Behind Tyler Bey’s game-high 36 points, the Wildcats were able to outscore the Cougars 44-31 in the second half to close out the game.

Patrick Savoy (16) and Devon Colley (13) both scored in double figures for the Wildcats, while Nick Kornieck led all Coronado scorers with 19 points. | iH
