LIVING: Relay for Life to be held April 18 to benefit American Cancer Society with entertainment for participants and spectators.
Relay for Life of Henderson, part of a worldwide annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, will be held Saturday, April 18 at the Foothill High School stadium, 800 College Dr. Admission is free to the public.
The relay event begins with a ceremonial Survivors’ Lap at 12:00 p.m. and runs through noon Sunday, featuring themed laps on the hour, including a Crazy Hat Lap, Silly Shoes Lap, and a Hollywood Lap.
Music and dance performances and a variety of contests are scheduled to entertain throughout the event. Booths offering food, souvenirs, and health information will line the track around the night. Click here for schedule of events.
Known as a major highlight, the Luminaria Ceremony begins at 9:30 p.m. to honor those who have battled cancer.
To date 29 teams with more than 220 participants in the area have raised nearly $37,000 in sponsorship for the event.
