SPORTS: Basic teams post wins leading up to regular season openers against Canyon Springs
Basic 68 Boulder City 47
The Basic Wolves (3-0) continued their home dominance against Division I-A opponents Monday with a 68-47 defeat of the Boulder City Eagles (4-2).
Senior guard Josh Villaros led nine Basic scorers on the night with 22 points, while senior forward Robert Sutton added 16 points in the winning effort.
Senior guard Jared Meacham also played a key role in the victory with eight points, while junior guard Matthew Esplin and senior guard Chaz Lucero chipped in six points each for the Wolves who never trailed Monday night.
Junior guard Zach Murphy paced the Eagles with 15 points in the losing effort.
Basic 48 Boulder City 34
Perfect through preseason play thus far, the Wolves will get their first real test of the season Tuesday December 9. against the defending regional champion Canyon Springs Pioneers (4-0)
Senior center Jayla Brown’s 22 points and 10 rebounds paced the Basic Wolves (2-1) to a 48-34 home victory over Boulder City (4-3) Monday night.
After blanking the Eagles early on in a 19-0 first quarter, the Wolves rolled to an easy victory with all five starters scoring.
Senior forward Dana Deloney chipped in 14 points for Basic, which led 27-11 after three quarters.
Senior guard Katlyn Daly (16 points) and junior forward Megan Morton (12 points) did most of their work in the fourth quarter, in which the Wolves allowed 23 points in the quarter.
With their Division I-A slate of their preseasons schedule over, the Wolves will host perennial state power Canyon Springs High School on Tuesday December 9. | iH
